Welcome

  • Why create another web site?
  • Why add to the millions of web sites on the WWW, a great many of which are religious?
I have realized for a long time that I need to “sanctify Christ as Lord in my heart.” I Pet. 3:15. Jesus Christ has been an important part of my life since I was a lad of only eleven years old.

This is not to say that I have always made the right choices in life. Like you I have many times missed the mark. Many have been the appropriate times for “confessing my sins”.  Praise the Lord for forgiveness. Where would any of us be without it?

The Apostle Peter knew the importance of  allowing Jesus to be the Lord of his life. Through his hours of ministry with Jesus he knew first hand the significance of “being  ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” I Peter 3:15. That is why throughout this effort (website) I will attempt to give you an answer for the hope which I have in me. That’s just  another way of saying that I will try as best I can to supply you with a reason for my hope. I trust you will keep that in mind as you paruse its contents.

I will make every effort to spell and punctuate correctly but I will apologize ahead of time for my frequent failures. I just hope that you will be able to determine what I meant to write.

The one thing I really will endeavor to do is to promote and to “rightly divide the word of   truth”. 2 Tim. 2:15. I have for the past 63 years sought to be a Biblical Berean. What is a Berean?

*****

They were the ones from Berea who Paul and Silas confronted with the gospel. Luke, in Acts 17:11-12, described their reception of that message by alleging that “they were more noble” than the believers in Thessalonica as they “examined the Scriptures daily to see whether those things were so”.  My grandmother used the phrase often in conversation; “Is that so?”, she would often say. That, it seems, was what the Bereans did.

You will not agree with everything you read in this work and that is fine. After all it’s not important that you agree with me. But it is important that we both agree with God. I’m of the old school which believes the Bible to be God’s Book. I trust we can all agree to “let God be found true, though every man be found a liar”. Romans 3:4.

God promised Abram, “You shall be a blessing.” Gen. 12:2. I hope in some way this work will prove to be a blessing to you and your family. If it is, give God the glory. If not, I have at the very least “stirred up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by the apostles.” 2 Pet. 3:1-2 NASB. If that is all I accomplish, then it was well worth the effort.

You will find that my writing is much like my conversation. (If you know me, that is) I am a simple man. I use simple reason to arrive at my conclusions. I find things difficult to accept that in some way do not make sense to me. These things may not make sense to you, but be assured that they do to me. My faith is much like Phillip’s admonition to the Eunuch when he inquired about baptism; "If you believe with all your heart." Acts 8:37. These are things I believe with all my heart.
